December was a dynamic conclusion to 2025 for PMF Industries. It was a month defined by celebrating the dedication of our long-standing leaders and actively cultivating the next generation of manufacturing talent through hands-on education and community outreach.

Celebrating the Season

Celebrating the Season

On December 6, PMF kicked off the month with our annual Company Christmas Party held at Penn College’s Le Jeune Chef. It was a festive evening of great food and gifts, giving our team a well-deserved opportunity to bond and celebrate the year’s successes.

Jerry Ulsamer Retires

A Legacy of Leadership: Jerry Ulsamer Retires

On December 15, PMF celebrated the retirement of Jerry Ulsamer, our CNC Machining Manager, after 31 years of dedicated service. Jerry’s impact on PMF extends far beyond his daily management duties; he was a driving force in implementing the PMF Machining Apprenticeship Program.

His passion for mentorship shaped the careers of many, and while we’ll miss his expertise, his legacy will continue through the apprentices he helped guide. We wish Jerry and his family the very best in his well-deserved retirement.

Bridging the Gap: Education in Action

Bridging the Gap: Education in Action

December focused on strengthening the pipeline between education and industry:

  • SUN Area Technical Institute: The partnership with SUN Tech was active all month. On December 9, PMF hosted machining students for a shop tour, sparking immediate interest in job shadows and potential co-op positions for the new year. On December 16, PMF representatives visited SUN Tech to observe students tackling technical challenges, specifically to see how they used work holding and indicated metal stock on a mill table without a vise.
  • CSIU Math Curriculum: On December 17, PMF traveled to the CSIU in Milton to collaborate with math teachers on incorporating "real-world" applications into their classrooms. PMF presented a practical problem: calculating the triangle on a countersink tool to achieve proper diameter within strict tolerances. Moving forward, PMF will work with an assigned teacher to integrate blueprint reading and applied math into the 2026 curriculum.
  • Williamsport High School: On December 18, PMF took a personalized approach to recruiting by hosting a Williamsport High School machining student and his parents for a tour. The visit was a success, with the student planning to join the team as a co-op in his senior year and to pursue an apprenticeship and full-time employment after graduation.

Looking Ahead

From honoring 31-year careers to sparking interest in high school juniors, December highlighted the full lifecycle of careers at PMF. Stay tuned for 2026.
