Going with the flow: cost containment with flowformed parts

Summary: In today’s fiercely competitive manufacturing market, flowforming, a lesser-known metal forming technique, can help aircraft makers find cost and performance advantages. Flowforming produces components in one piece, to near final shape, which is less expensive than multi-piece welding methods. The cost savings come from greatly reduced testing requirements, less wasted material in the finished component, and faster speed to market.
